Activate 5x Chase Ultimate Rewards on Chase Freedom & Chase Freedom Flex Now

The next rotating bonus categories for the second quarter of 2022 is now open for the Chase Freedom Flex and Chase Freedom credit cards. Activate the categories for earnings from April 1st through June 30, 2022. In addition, cardholders can earn either 5% cash back or 5x Ultimate Rewards points on the first $1,500 spent at Amazon and select streaming services.

Cardholders can earn up to 7,500 Ultimate Reward points by maxing out their spending in the bonus categories thru the end of June. However, you will need to activate the offer before June 15, 2022, to utilize the rotating calendar. 7,500 Ultimate Reward points are enough for a two-night off-peak stay at a category 1 Hyatt hotel or a one-way flight within the United States.  Some links include referral codes.

Chase Freedom FlexPair with a Sapphire Card
Suppose you pair the Chase Freedom Flex or Freedom Card with a Chase Sapphire card that earns fully transferable Ultimate Rewards points such as the Chase Sapphire Reserve or Chase Sapphire Preferred. In that case, you can earn 5 Ultimate Rewards points per dollar rather than cashback.

Otherwise, if you only hold the Freedom Flex or Freedom Card, you will only be able to redeem your points as cashback at a value of 1 cent per point. In addition, the Chase Sapphire Reserve and Sapphire Preferred can be redeemed through the Chase Travel Portal at a 50% & 25% bonus, respectively.

Military Considerations
The Chase Freedom Flex and Chase Sapphire Reserve waive the annual fees for active-duty military members and their spouses. In addition, utilizing this combination each quarter allows you to earn an extra 5x of valuable Chase Ultimate Rewards towards the use of future vacation.
Each quarter, you can maximize your earning potential with the Freedom Flex or Freedom Card, earning 5x Ultimate Rewards rather than just 1x on a Sapphire credit card. If you maximize at year’s end, you’ll earn an extra 30,000 Ultimate Rewards points each year.

Bottom Line
If you don’t already have the Chase Freedom Flex, now is an excellent time to sign up. The card has no annual fee and offers $200 cashback or effectively 20,000 Ultimate Rewards points when paired with a Sapphire card after spending $500 in the first three months. In addition, new cardmembers will earn 5% cashback on gas station purchases for their entire first year up to $6,000. That’s 30,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points when paired with a Sapphire card or, in other terms, enough for a one way plane ticket to Europe when paired with a suitable transfer partner.

Activate your bonus categories now, or apply for the card to take advantage of 5x Ultimate Rewards for Amazon and select streaming services from April 1st to June 30, 2022.
