The month of November traditionally commences the holiday season. It brings about the onslaught of winter as families get together, set aside time to give thanks for their blessings, and start shopping for deals online and in stores. In addition, we celebrate one memorable holiday that is more personal to us in the military community—Veterans Day, which is a time for us to pay our respects to those who have served. We celebrate and honor America’s veterans for their patriotism and sacrifices that time cannot give back.
As a token of appreciation, many businesses throughout the United States offer a range of deals for active-duty military members and veterans on Veterans Day. These deals include all kinds of deals from free meals, retail discounts, haircuts, oil changes, etc. However, as a travel-focused website and military community, I have highlighted a few discounts and travel deals below.

FREE ACTIVITIES DISCOUNT
Many entertainment and activity centers across the United States are offering military members and veterans heavily discounted admission, with some extending the offer to family members, as well. Here is a non-comprehensive list of various activities for military members and their families:
Veterans receive free Museum admission from Nov 11 through 14, with up to three guests at a 50% discount. Family of the active-duty military will also receive the discount.
Free admission from 11 am – 4 pm with valid military ID, and immediate family members receive 50% off.

America’s largest outdoor educational living museum, located in Virginia, offers free admission to all veteran and active-duty service members and up to three of their immediate family members from Nov 11 to 14. The entry includes access to historic sites, two art museums, and a complimentary shuttle service.
Active-duty and Veterans receive free admission to Colorado state parks on Veteran’s Day. The military member or veteran must present a valid ID. All other park fees are still imposed.

Military members, veterans, and their families get free admission from 10-4 on Nov 11. Show a valid ID and receive a free tour of Hardman Farm.
Active-duty military and veterans receive discounted admission for themselves and up to five guests from Nov 1-18 and Nov 29-Dec 16. Tickets can be purchased online or at the Knott’s Berry Farm ticket booths.
Active-duty military and veterans receive free admission and can purchase theme park tickets for up to six guests at a 60% discount on the exact dates. They can also upgrade their visit to include a stay at the LEGOLAND Florida Resort and save up to 25% on select dates during November.

The Alamo is hosting the Inaugural Military Appreciation Family Day on Nov 11 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm to celebrate, honor, and recognize active and former military and their families. The event will be free.
A yearlong series of events marking the Tomb’s centennial culminate on Veterans Day with a wreath-laying at 11 am. A full honors procession on Memorial Avenue begins at 9 am, along with a flyover of 17 aircraft.
FREE NATIONAL PARK ADMISSION
On Veterans Day, all visitors to National Parks will receive free admission. With so many great national parks in every state, this is a great day trip idea that you can spend with family and friends.
All National Park sites that require an entrance fee will grant free admission on Veterans Day.
DISCOUNTED TRAVEL RATES
US military personnel are offered discounted travel rates at many hotels, tours, transportation hubs this Veterans Day:
B&Bs for Vets is offering one complimentary room night on November 10 and 11 at various locations. Preference will be given to “first-timer” Veterans and active-duty personnel; those who have not participated in the program in the past will be given priority. DCTA is providing veterans and military personnel with free rides on Veterans Day.
